Jackson D. Brown, 85, of Milford, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on Tuesday, August 10, 2021. Jackson was born in West Jefferson, NC to the late James and Eula (Marsh) Brown. Mr. Brown was a teacher at Milford High School and Polytech High School, was also the Pastor at Cordova Baptist Church, Lynch Heights Baptist Church, and at East New Market Baptist Church. Mr Brown was also a boat Captain for many years running Charter Boats & Headboats for Adams’ Wharf, he also served as a Captain & Port Engineer for Delaware Bay Launch Service. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Edward Brown, William Brown, Willard Brown, Robert Brown, Burman Brown, Gale Brown, and Jerry Brown; sisters, Ethel Alger and A. Jean Chell. He is survived by his wife, Billie Ruth (McPeake) Brown; children, Robin Kay Hurley and her husband Keith, Barbara Lorain Stemrich and her husband Brad, and David Carl Brown and his wife Carla; sisters, Laura Catherine Gilbert and Mary Leppo; grandchildren, Kaitlin (Brad) Rowbottom, Samantha (Brandon) Bissett, Matthew (Keely Weber) Lewis, Morgan (Karissa Arndt) Lewis, Megan (Dustin) O’Bier, Kelsea (Cody Petit) Brown, Jackson (Emily) Brown, Dahana Stemrich, and Bryar Stemrich; and 6 great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held on Monday, August 16, 2021 at 1:30 pm in the chapel of Berry-Short Funeral Home, 119 NW Front St., Milford, DE 19963, where friends may call after 11:30 am. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Georgetown.
