James "Jim" A. Lofland

James “Jim” A. Lofland, 80, of Milford, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at his home in Milford on Saturday, November 19, 2022.

Jim was born in Milford, Delaware on November 23, 1941, to the late James Parn and Margaret (Masten) Lofland.

Jim was a veteran of the US Marine Corps, and then worked as a column operator at DuPont for over 25 years. In his younger years, he enjoyed racing stock cars. He was the inventor of the “Scissors Lock-Out Clamp”. He was involved in many local organizations, such as Elks Lodge #2401, Milford VFW Post 6483, American Legion Post #3, and most importantly, Milford Moose Lodge #2316. He was known as a stoic and dependable man. He enjoyed taking his daily morning drives and porch swinging, watching Jeff Gordon and NASCAR races, and watching classic western movies. Later in life, he gained an affinity to cats, and welcomed many into his family through the years.

In addition to his parents, Jim is preceded in death by his sisters, Shirley Taylor and Joanne West; and his special kitties, Izzy and Gordy.

He will be greatly missed by his wife of 55 years, Barbara (Golden) Lofland; his daughter, Lisa Lofland Warren and her husband John; his son, James A. Lofland, Jr. and his wife Amber; and his grandsons, Christopher Warren and his wife Emily, and Nickolas Warren; and his great granddaughter, Nova Warren.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 26, 2022 at 1:00 at Berry-Short Funeral Home, 119 NW Front St., Milford, DE 19963. A time of visitation will begin at 11:30. Interment will follow at Milford Community Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to Milford Moose Lodge #2316, 20142 Beaver Dam Rd., Milford, DE 19963.
