James William Hutson

James William Hutson, 74, of Lincoln, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 30, 2022 at his home surrounded by his family. James was born on August 18, 1947, in Milford, Del., to the late Carl Jr. and Dorothy (Donophan) Hutson. He proudly served his country in the Army during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed building cars, taking special interest in hotrods and racing vehicles. He also enjoyed crabbing with family, and listening to the music he grew up with. He was known by many to be a tremendous listener, but he also was an excellent storyteller. Above all else, James’s love for his family was evident. He and his wife, Cathy, were together for 45 years, and married for 39. His favorite moments were spent with their grandchildren, whom he affectionately called his “babies”. In addition to his parents, James is preceded in death by his grandsons, Evan and Eugene Wilkins; and his sisters, Christine Maloney, Teresa Kemp, and Sheri Dailey. He is survived by his loving wife, Cathy Wilkins Hutson; his children, David Wilkins (Corrinna), Janet Sharp (Jason), Jamie Moore (Shawn Sr.), Carla Dunn (Kyle), Dawn Banning (Terry); his step-mother, Rose Hutson; 13 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; his siblings, Carl Hutson III (Lorraine), Patricia Wyatt (Steve), Ronald Hutson (Lisa), Kathy Voshell (John Boole), Phyllis Wright (Glenn), Richard Hutson (Nancy), and Ann Hutson; and his brothers-in-law, Kenny Kemp and Dennis Maloney. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, February 6, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at Berry-Short Funeral Home, 119 NW Front St. Milford, Del. At 11:00 a.m., a time of visitation will begin. Interment will be held at St. Johnstown Cemetery, Greenwood, Del. As required by revised mandates during the pandemic, masks will be required for the health and safety of the family and those in attendance.
