Jean S. Hutchman

Jean S. Hutchman, 95, of Milford, passed away at her home on Wednesday, December 1, 2021. The daughter of the late Joseph R. and Rose V. (Byrnes) Shane, Jean was born on December 10, 1925 in King Manor, PA. Jean was a member of Avenue United Methodist Church in Milford. She had a heart for her community that was evident through her volunteer work with Meals on Wheels and the Milford Senior Center. In addition to her parents, Jean is preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Frazier Hutchman, Jr.; son, J. Michael Hutchman; sisters, Rose Reed, Florence Rose, Genevieve Campion, Anna Dougherty, and Mary Murphy; and brother, Joseph R. Shane, Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Virginia Lee Noles of Lewes, DE; son, John Stephen Hutchman of Ambler, PA; son, David Frazier Hutchman of Lansdowne, PA; daughter, Merry Lynn Hutchman of Milford, DE; as well as six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, January 15, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Avenue United Methodist Church, 20 N. Church St. Milford, DE. The family requests that attendees wear masks. In keeping with Jean’s generous spirit, it was her decision to donate her body to scientific research through the Humanity Gifts Registry.
