Jeanne Lynn Swain Lawson

August 9, 1957 — February 21, 2021

Jeanne Lynn Swain Lawson, born August 9, 1957, passed away on February 21, 2021 with her loving husband, family and best friend surrounding her at her home in Lincoln after a courageous battle with cancer. Jeanne enjoyed life to the fullest; vacationing, boating, fishing, beach days, and loved her Great Danes. Jeanne enjoyed music at the Lewes Pier with her husband and days spent at Broadkill Beach. Jeanne loved her time spent with her daughter, Erica Paquette, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren around the pool and on vacations. Jeanne began volunteering at the Stockley Center at age 15 and continued her career there; becoming Director of All Delaware Developmental Disability Services. Jeanne enjoyed the work she put into the transition teams, helping the clients she loved dearly to become responsible and plan for their futures. Jeanne was well known for working diligently to make sure her clients had every possibility of a good life. Jeanne retired in 2011, after 36 years of working for DDDS of Delaware. Jeanne was very proud of the many awards she received throughout her career. She received many awards of Excellence from the Department Head Director of DDDS and also the Governor’s Award of Excellence. She spoke highly, and with great devotion, of the love she had for her grandmother, Mary Holson, her uncle, Dr. Joseph “Sonny” Holson, Aunt Norma Holson and growing up with her uncle, aunts and cousins. Jeanne was preceded in death by her grandparents, Joe and Mary Holson; her mother, Josephine Swain (2017); and her brother, Eric M. Swain (2018). She is survived by her loving husband, Gary “Cap” Lawson, whom she was with for 42 years; her daughter, Erica Warrington Paquettte (Tobias) who came home to care for her mother from her home in Louisiana; her grandchildren, Ambrie Price (Mark), Brandi Paquette, Tagen Paquette; her great-grandchildren, Briar Price and Haelynn Jeanne Price; her best friend and sidekick of 36 years, Janet Macklin; her 24 year old cat, Whiskers; and her Great Dane, Axel; several nieces and nephews. A memorial services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, Jeanne wished that friends donate to a charity of their choice.
