John "Jack" George Ludwig, Iii

John “Jack” George Ludwig, III, 70, of Greenwood, Delaware, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford on Friday, June 17, 2022. Jack was born on April 28, 1952, in Baltimore, Maryland to the late John George, Jr. and Dolores Mary (Seling) Ludwig. Jack was a life member of the Rosedale Volunteer Fire Department, and a member of the Greenwood Volunteer Fire Department. He was a career Baltimore County Firefighter, who retired after fifty years of dedicated service. His specialties were industrial firefighting, confined space, and shipboard. During that time, he authored four textbooks and after his retirement, taught at the University of Maryland Fire and Rescue Institute at Aberdeen and College Park. He studied under R. Adams Cowley of University of MD, known as the “Father of the Golden Hour”. Jack was a paramedic responding to the mass casualty event on January 4, 1987, where an Amtrak and Conrail train crashed in Chase, MD. Jack was a member of First Baptist Church of Milford, DE, and a former member of St. Clement Mary Hofbauer Parish of Rosedale, MD and Living Hope Baptist of Reisterstown, MD. Jack will be sorely missed by his wife of 25 years, Melvine Wann Ludwig; his three sisters, Ann M. Ludwig, Rosemary H. Day (Kenneth), and Mary Catherine Ashby (Bill); as well as his nieces and nephew, Danielle, Michelle, Wm. Casey, and Stephanie. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 23, 2022 at 12:00 noon at First Baptist Church of Milford, 6062 Old Shawnee Rd, Milford, DE 19963. A time of visitation will begin at 10:00.
