John Wayne Johnson

HARRINGTON – John Wayne Johnson, 74, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family and friends, on Friday, August 20, 2021. He was born to the late Dillion Reddish Johnson and Charles Johnson, Sr. in Berlin, MD on November 29, 1946. He graduated from Berlin High School. John graduated from Wesley College with a nursing degree. He proudly served his country with the U.S. Air Force, Army and National Guard, retiring after 24 years of service. John worked as a nurse for the Delaware State Hospital and Delaware Hospice. He was a coin collector and a gun enthusiast. He also enjoyed camping, playing his guitar and golfing. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Johnson, Jr. John is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Elizabeth Bowen Johnson; children, Terry, Marty, Jacki, David, Sherry, and Robert; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; his 4-legged best friends, Beau, Henry, and Barney; as well as extended family and loving friends. Funeral Services will be held in the sanctuary of Victory Baptist Church, 16219 S. Sussex Hwy., Bridgeville, DE 19933 on Thursday, August 26, 2021, at 12 noon. A time of visitation will begin at 11 am. Interment with full military honors will be at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro.
