Joseph L. Masci

Joseph L. Masci, 69, of Millsboro, DE, passed away peacefully on Oct. 20,2022 during a short stay at Delaware Hospice, after a four year long battle with cancer. He was predeceased by both parents, Nello and Christine Masci. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Nancy, his two daughters, Angela and Amanda, and his granddaughter, Briella Masci. He is also survived by two brothers, Nello [Maggie], Gary, and his sister, Linda Nelson.

Joe graduated from Pa. Institute of Technology and Eastern Christian University with degrees in Electrical Engineering, Computer Sciences, and Organizational Management. He was employed by Exelon Corporation where he worked as an IT Manager for 30 years until he retired in 2018.

Joe was a spiritual man, and a beloved partner of United Church of DE, where he served the Lord and the community. He loved serving on the parking team where he was one of the first smiling faces to greet arriving church family members every Sunday morning. He was also a professional drummer and singer of several bands over the span of 50 years, his most recent band being Last Chance Band of DE. He was a long-time student of the Martial Arts. After many years of training and achieving his black belt in Kempo, he turned his focus to Aikido and earned his second-degree black belt, or Nidan. Joe was an avid car enthusiast, he loved traveling, fishing, camping, and being with family. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.

A time of visitation will be held from 3:30pm to 5:00pm, with a memorial service to follow at 5:00pm on Friday, November 11, 2022, in the chapel of Berry-Short Funeral Home, 119 N.W. Front St. in Milford, DE. Pastor David Vargas will be officiating. A time of food and fellowship will be held at United Church of DE, 985 DuPont Blvd. in Milford, DE from 6:00pm – 8:00pm.
