Joseph Richard Julien

J. Richard Julien (August 31, 1947 – August 29, 2024) of Felton, Delaware died peacefully at home surrounded by his loved ones after a brave battle with cancer.


Richard spent most of his life as a resident of Salem, Massachusetts. He served honorably in Vietnam, serving two tours on the warfront. He worked as a food salesman for fifty years, first at his family’s business, A. E. Goulet, then at Hallsmith-Sysco. He was a dedicated steward of his community, most notably running the Saint Joseph School Bingo for decades and serving on the board of directors at Seaport/St. Jean’s Credit Union for many years.


He is predeceased by his parents, Roland and Elizabeth, and his brother, Raymond. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Marie; his daughters, Renee Hanson (husband Mark) and Celeste Cassino (husband Anthony); his grandchildren, Richard (wife Nadia), Joshua, Michael, Claire, and Sebastian; his great granddaughter, Lillian; his sister Suzanne, his brother Robert and their spouses; and many nieces and nephews


A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 5th at the Masonic Lodge located at 62 Pleasant Street, Marblehead, MA 01945. The memorial service will begin at 12 PM with a reception to follow until 4 PM. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to The Vietnam Veterans of America or The Disabled American Veterans.
