Josephine Elaine Herholdt

Josephine Elaine Herholdt, 83, went home to be with her Lord Jesus Christ on Monday, September 16, 2024, at Greenwood Country Rest Home. Elaine was born in Lewes, DE on July 20, 1941.

Elaine was a dedicated member of the Milford Church of God where she attended as often as she was able. She was a member of the Milford Elks Lodge and the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed camping, boating, travelling, and going on cruises. She owned and operated Delaware Coast Line Railroad and Hide Power Equipment with her husband, Michael. Elaine was known by many for her love of cooking and hosting parties. Her Super Bowl Parties were the event she was most well-known for along with her summer pig roasts. She enjoyed eating out and trying new restaurants. Elaine loved her family more than anything and always worked hard to make them comfortable and loved.

Elaine is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Michael “Mike” Herholdt Sr., mother Charlotte Kimmey; father, Robert Sockriter; stepfather Robert Kimmey; and grandson, Jonathan Herholdt.

She is survived by her three sons; Michael Daniel Herholdt (Jean Roberts), John Patrick Herholdt (Jennifer Hadley), Wesley Robert Herholdt (Jennifer Ware), grandchildren; Ben Herholdt, Johnny Herholdt, Cassie Herholdt, Samuel Herholdt, Gloria Herholdt, Jessica Herholdt, Michael Herholdt, Tyler Herholdt, Nicholas Herholdt; three great grandchildren, and best friends; Cookie Bryant and Stephanie Daniel.

The funeral service will be conducted by Pastor Andy Stevens at the Milford Church of God on Friday, September 27th, at 500 North Walnut Street. A time of visitation will take place from 11:00 – 12:00 and the funeral service will begin at 12:00 noon. Interment will be held at Lincoln Cemetery immediately following the funeral.

The family is requesting donations to be made to the Milford Church of God in lieu of flowers.
