Joyce Marie White

Joyce Marie White of Georgetown passed away peacefully in her sleep, Thursday, April 3, 2025. She was 73.

She was born in Milford, DE daughter of the late John Walter and Dorothy Alberta (Williamson) Banks and raised with Helen and Bunky Burke and Bertie West.

She worked at M&T Bank as a Supervisor.

Joyce was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Seaford, Sussex Post #8 American Legion Auxiliary and CHEER Center in Georgetown. She also enjoyed attending the drive-in church at Sand Hill Fields.

She enjoyed going to concerts and shows, horseback riding, going to the beach every weekend and gardening, but Joyce especially loved being a homemaker. Joyce and Gerald enjoyed going to Burger King in Georgetown. There were two female employees that were like daughters making over them.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, David A. Banks, Harry Banks, and Harvey Banks and sister-in-law, Mary Banks.

Joyce is survived by her loving husband, Gerald E. White; sisters-in-law, Dolly Banks, Virginia Banks, Helen Wilson, Maureeen White, Sharon White, Donna White, brothers-in-law Larry White, Lewis White, and Donald White; as well as several nieces, nephews, and extended family.

A viewing will be held from 10:00am-12:00pm, Wednesday, April 9, 2025, in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market St. Georgetown, where a funeral service will begin at noon. Burial will follow at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro.
