Kimberly “Kimmy” Burdette, 55 of Georgetown DE, loving mother and maw-maw passed away at home, in the hands of the Lord, August 01,2022. Born in Bethesda, MD, on March 21,1967; she was the daughter of the late John Burdette. She is survived by her mother Margie Hickman, and her stepmother Edith Burdette. Two daughters, Amanda and Ashley Paxton and the light of her life, her granddaughter, Aubrey Jones; her three siblings; Deb Burdette (Wendy Tresselt), Linda Brenner (Kenneth), and Tony Burdette (Lisa). She was an amazing aunt to Samantha Powell (John), Natalie Brenner, and Bryan Burdette. Great aunt to Nora, Wren, and Nathaniel Powell, who she loved dearly. Kimmy also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, and cousins; she was considered a second mom and grandma to many of her daughter’s friends and their children. Kimberly attended Damascus High School. She was a member of the Montgomery County Jersey Cattle Club, and an avid 4-H member growing up. She received her GED in 1995; took various courses and earned many certifications. She could do so many things and if she didn’t know how to she would learn it. However, her true calling was children and helping others. She was blessed in the last nine years to be able to provide childcare and make many special memories with her granddaughter, and she cherished every minute of it. Kimberly was a Breast Cancer survivor, and managed other health issues, but she never let them stop her from living a full and loving life. Kimberly was a member of Crossroads Community Church in Georgetown DE, where she made many new friends, which if you knew her you had a friend for life. Kimberly also leaves behind her fur babies, Cookie, who was her loyal and faithful companion, who stayed by her side until her very last moments. Sombra Sue and Mitts, who were her “Royals”, and longtime companions, who will all miss her terribly. There will be a celebration of Kimberly’s life to be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to be made in her honor at Caninesforkids.org. “Remember, this is not goodbye; it is simply I’ll see you later.”
