May 29, 1992 — January 23, 2021

GEORGETOWN – Kwantae Jamar Hovington was taken from this earth tragically on Saturday, January 23, 2021 at his home in Seaford. Kwantae, or “Tator”, as he was known to his family, was a loving father, companion, son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. He loved his family fiercely, especially his newborn baby girl, Khari Jhene’ Hovington. Kwantae was a hard worker and loved being outdoors. He had worked for Sposato Lawn Care, Grottos Pizza at the Tanger Outlets in Rehoboth Beach, Mountaire Farms in Milford, Allens Hatchery Inc in Millsboro and had recently begun his own business venture, Miscellaneous Men Lawn Care. Kwantae graduated from Cape Henlopen High School Class of 2010 and was well known for his talent in the sports of basketball, where he played point guard; as well as, football. He began his football years playing with the youth league, Cape Sharks, and then during his high school years; where he played running back, linebacker and wide receiver. He was an avid fan of Kobe Bryant and the Baltimore Ravens. Kwantae loved fishing and crabbing and two of his favorite movies were The Outsiders (which he would often quote), and The Lion King. Kwantae was the first participant in the Westside Rehoboth New Beginnings Children’s Program, followed by the CJC Criminal Justice Council which ultimately led to his involvement later in life at Delaware State University in their college preparatory Upward Bound program. He loved listening to his favorite music artist ‘Kodak Black’, loved to cook and was known for his seafood gumbo that he always cooked with love; and man did he love sneakers, (always had the hottest sneakers out, especially Jordan’s), had a smile that could light up a whole room, loved riding 4-wheelers, well known member of the Hot Boys. The family would also like to give a special thank you to Sha’Mya and family for loving Kwantae just as much as we loved him. Last but not least He Loved His Daughter Khari with all his heart. Kwantae is preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Elizabeth Waples, cousin, Ishmael Monshae Hovington Mackey, and his paternal grandmother, Sheila Brittingham. He leaves behind his infant daughter, Khari Jhene’ Hovington; and her mother, his companion, Sha’Mya Elizabeth Edwards; his mother, Niniya Jean and husband Jumpci; his father, Jesse Brittingham and Shadette; maternal grandmother, Marilyn Waples; paternal grandfather, Jesse “Pops” Bradham; ten siblings, Tyree Hovington, Patrick Henry, Jr., Precious Love Harris, Noel Maria Ann Harris, Noah Orlando Harris, Deondre Smith, Christopher Boone, Leondre Boone, Laeisha Riddick and Jabri Brittingham; a babysitter whom was instrumental in his daily care as a child, Mr. Marvin Burton; and his aunt Moniya Hovington, with whom he had a special bond; several nieces and nephews, numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins; his God children Christopher and Caliah Cannon; as well as extended family and a host of friends.
