Levi M. Brubaker

November 30, 1937 — February 25, 2022

Levi M. Brubaker entered into rest on Friday morning, Feb.25,2022. He was 84 years old. He was the son of Arthur and Ethel Brubaker of Manheim, PA where he was born and raised. Levi loved music and was 1st tenor in Victors Quartet which sang broadly from 1954 and later traveled to represent Messiah College through their 1957 summer tour. He interrupted his education to complete 1-W Service at Western Reserve Hospital in Ohio. Then he enrolled at Moody Bible Institute in Chicago to prepare for pastoral ministry. In 1963 he married fellow student, Sandra Boorsma. Following their wedding they served in Canada before settling in Philadelphia, PA where he worked at the American Sunday School Union until 1971. Receiving a call to serve in Zambia, he and Sandra moved with their young sons. There Levi fulfilled his passion for training young pastors and church leaders. In 1979 they returned with their children Victor, Timothy and Deborah (who had been born there) when terrorist activity prevented the boys from traveling to school safely. He pastored 2 churches over 13 years before retiring from the ministry to focus on family needs. He worked at Turkey Hill Dairy until he retired at the age of 72. Throughout his adult life Levi’s passion and priority was to know and serve God. This was evident in his family life, personal and professional life. He is remembered by his children, foster children and grandchildren for his love and kind heartedness. Generous with his time, he was an open and non-judgmental listener and always ready to lend a hand or a ride. Everyone loved his infectious smile and enjoyed abundant personal attention. He was preceded in death by his son Timothy Mark Brubaker whose life partner David Mitchell survives him and his sister and her husband Mary and Paul Sides. He is survived by Sandra Brubaker, his wife of 58 years, his son Victor Brubaker and his wife, his daughter Deborah Shank and her husband and children; his siblings John Arthur, Kenneth, Ruth, Joyce, James, and Robert and their families, and numerous foster children and their families.
