Lorraine V. Slaughter

The Slaughter Family is sad to announce the passing of Lorraine V. Slaughter. She passed away on April 19, 2023, at the age of 88. For the last 16 months, she had been lovingly cared for by the staff at the Country Rest Home in Greenwood, DE.

Lorraine is survived by her loving husband of 70 years Leon V. Slaughter; her sons, Donald L. Slaughter and his wife Gail of Milton, DE and Robert L. Slaughter and his wife Theresa of Bonita Springs, FL; a grandson Mickey Slaughter and his wife Jamie of Harrington, DE and a great-grandson, Loghan Slaughter of Harrington, DE.

She was predeceased by her father and mother, Harvey Coverdale, Sr. in 1980 and Beatrice (nee Adkins) Coverdale in 2013, and her brother Harvey Coverdale Jr. in 1998.

Lorraine was born in Lincoln, DE on March 17, 1935. Lorraine graduated from Milford High School in 1953. Lorraine retired from L & W Insurance Agency in Dover, DE after 25 years as an office manager. She loved traveling to Florida, camping, boating, gardening, and sitting by her pool enjoying the sunshine. Lorraine was also a founding member of the Lincoln Cornerstone Church, Lincoln, DE.

A viewing will be held on Monday, April 24, 2023, at 10:00am, at Berry-Short Funeral Home, 119 NW Front St. Milford, DE 19963. The funeral will be at 11:00am, followed by graveside services at the Milford Community Cemetery.
