Mamie Lee Lankford

Mamie Lee Lankford went home to be with Jesus and two of her sons on Wednesday, March 14th, 2024.

Mamie was born on December 18, 1936. Mamie owned and operated Lankford Signs with her family for more than 30 years, as well as the Tastee Freeze in Seaford, DE. She was also a substitute teacher for area schools. She had a beautiful voice and sang in many churches and homecomings. She was devoted and raised, her 3 boys, reading them the bible everyday before school. She was known for being “the lady with the flower in her hair.” She loved cooking and entertaining for family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her sons, Richard Lankford, Jr. and Michale Lankford; her two sisters, and her parents. She is survived by her companion and caregiver of 28 years, Wayne Hurley; her son Keith and his wife Dawn; 9 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Dan Iannascolio and his wife Ava; daughter in laws, Lisa and Debbie; as well as several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at Crossroad Community Church in Georgetown, DE with visitation at 1:00 p.m., service at 2:00 p.m. followed by a time of food and fellowship at the church. In lieu of flowers the family requests that you send donations to Georgetown EMS (406 N. The family would like to thank Georgetown EMS for their years of service to Mamie. We would also like to thank our Compassionate Care Hospice Nurse Kaitlyn for everything she did for Mamie and the family.
