Margaret F. Purnell

Margaret Frazier Purnell, 98, of Georgetown, DE, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, December 25, 2020. Margaret was the daughter of the late Joseph M. and Mary C. Frazier of Arlington, VA and Finksburg, MD. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, David Johnson Purnell, Sr.; three sisters, Frances Frazier, Marie Nelson, and Charlotte Stewart; and grandson, Robert Ferguson Purnell. She is survived by a daughter, Nancy (Richard) Purnell Smith, of Laurel, DE; and a son, David Johnson Purnell, Jr. and his dog Pooch, of Elliott Island, MD; three granddaughters, Laura (Michael) Givens of Laurel, DE, Meg Havens of Laurel, DE, and Janet (Josephus) Hastings of Delmar, MD; brother, Joseph M. Frazier of Finksburg, MD; 9 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews on both coasts and in between. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, January 4, 2021 at 11 am at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, 202 Edward St., Georgetown, DE. Interment will follow at Union Cemetery, Georgetown, DE. All in attendance must wear a mask and adhere to social distancing and gathering protocols.
