Martha A. Warren

December 20, 1941 — March 11, 2024

Martha A. Warren, 82, of Georgetown, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, March 11, 2024.

Martha was born in Milford, daughter of Merrill Ivens and Eleanor Stayton Ivens. She graduated from Milford High School in 1959, and still enjoyed monthly breakfasts with her classmates. Martha attended Goldy Beacom College in Wilmington and credits those years for her excellent parallel parking skills. She married Nelson P. Warren in 1962 and raised 3 sons with him in Georgetown, where they were active members of the community. He predeceased her in 2018 after 56 years of marriage.

Martha enjoyed travel, summers at Broadkill Beach, and time spent with family and friends. She was an active member of the Wesley United Methodist Church and McColley’s Chapel. Martha was a volunteer at Robin Hood Thrift Store in Georgetown for 40 years. She was a member of Kiwanis, the Georgetown Historical Society, American Legion in Georgetown, and was active at the Georgetown Cheer Center.

Martha is survived by her loving sons, Robert (Michelle) Warren and Tom (Liz) Warren; her cherished grandchildren, Jamie (Melissa), Matt (Jenn), Tommy, Claudia, and Jillian; and her adored great-grandchildren Hayden, Mason, Bryson, Adalynn, Olive, and Hazel. In addition to her husband Nelson, she was preceded in death by her son Nelson Warren Jr and granddaughters Abigail and Bethany.

A celebration of Martha's life will be held on Tuesday, March 19, 2024 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market St., Georgetown, where friends may call after 10 a.m. Interment will be in Union Cemetery in Georgetown, followed by fellowship at the Marvel Museum.
