Mary “Colleen” Waybright, 69, of GEORGETOWN, DE (formerly of Hagerstown, MD). Colleen passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at Beebe Medical Center in Lewes, Delaware.
Colleen was born May 2, 1954, in Takoma Park, MD, daughter of the late Charles K. and Florence E. Moran. She graduated from Robert E. Perry High School Class of 1972. After graduation, Colleen attended Abbe Business Institute and Montgomery Junior College. In 1984, she began her 25-year career with the Montgomery County Public Schools. Starting as a bus driver assisting special needs students before transitioning into her influential role as the assistant media specialist at S. Crista McAuliffe Elementary School. Retiring after many awarded and dedicated years, she made her home in Georgetown, Delaware to be closer to the beach.
Colleen cherished her time entertaining friends and family outdoors, at the beach, gardening, and camping. She enjoyed music and dearly loved her pets, many of which she lovingly adopted from local rescues. In addition to her hobbies and interests, she would regularly go to bike week and the many festivals in Ocean City. Colleen also served as a member of the Wheaton Moose Lodge Women of the Moose organization.
In addition to her parents, Colleen is preceded in death by brother, Timothy Moran; sister, Lynn Caskey; and brother-in-law, Wayne Little.
Colleen leaves behind, three children, Stephen (Cathrine) Miller, Jason (Sydney) Waybright, and Katharine Waybright; three granddaughters, Brieanna (Caleb) Baughman, Kiersten Miller, and McKenzie Waybright; a great-grandson, Roger Baughman; Colleen’s husband, Donald Waybright; siblings, Lisa (Steve) Hankins, Charles “Chuck” Moran, and Michele Little; brother-in-law, Kenneth Caskey; several nieces, nephews, and extended family; her beloved dog Emma, cat Simba and recent kitten rescue, Tori.
A memorial service in Maryland will be planned for friends and family at a later date.
