Nancy Fay Argo, 85, of Milton passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, Jan 18th, 2025. She was born in Milton on December 31, 1939.
Nancy grew up on Chestnut Street with her two sisters Ruth Ann and Grace and her brother Layton. After graduating from Milton High School, she worked at the Milton movie theater and had fond memories of times growing up and working in the town she so loved.
In 1961, she wed the love of her life, John P. Argo. He was a local contractor and John built them a home on Waples Pond. In 1963, they had their first child, Rhonda then two boys, Darren and Dean in 1967 and 1970. She loved her children and would regularly pray for them. She kept an impeccable household and loved to cook meals and bake desserts. She had vibrant personality and an infectious laugh who loved to talk to people and carry the conversation.
As John’s construction company began to grow, Nancy assumed bookkeeping and financial responsibilities given managing money was not John’s strong suit. She was a skilled with numbers and very organized and was critical to the company’s success.
Nancy was a member of Slaughter Neck UMC for 50+ years. She was a Sunday School teacher for decades, teaching the young children of the church the many bible stories. She also volunteered on the committee that served many church fellowship dinners and in the early years, printed the bulletins for the weekly services. Most notably, Nancy believed in the power of prayer and served as a leader on the church prayer chain.
Nancy is preceded in death by her parents, Layton and Lillian Dutton and her husband of 62 years, John Argo. She is survived by her sisters Ruth Ann Dutton and Grace Geyer and her brother, Layton Dutton (Lucy). She is also survived by her children Rhonda Moore (Joe), Darren Argo (Geri), Dean Argo (Tracy) and her 9 grandchildren; Ryan Moore (Laura), Josh Moore (Rachel), Megan Littleton (Brandon), Christopher Argo, Brandon Argo, Adam Argo, Maddy Kane (Jimmy), Gabby Argo and Lilly Argo.
