Naomi L. Betts

MILTON- Naomi L. Ingram Betts went home to the Lord on March 22, 2024, at the young age of 100.

Naomi was born in Ellendale, DE on January 30, 1924, to Dorsey and Estella Morgan. Naomi moved to Argo’s Corner where she married her husband and father of her children, Paynter Ingram, who preceded her in death in 1961. Naomi moved to Milton with her second marriage to George Betts, who preceded her in death in 1988.

Naomi was a homemaker and later became a school bus driver. She was an avid reader and puzzle lover. Her true passions were her family, cooking and bird watching. She will be especially remembered for her grace, strength, and dignity, along with the way she lovingly touched the lives of everyone she met. Raising six children as a single parent, the Lord was her strength and guided her throughout life.

Naomi is survived by her 5 living children: Charlotte Black, Rena Fagan, Allen (Mary) Ingram, Betty Carmean and Phillip (Karen) Ingram. Grandchildren: Eric Black, Jeremy Black, Tim Fagan, Vickie Fagan, Allen Ingram, Jr., Jordan Ingram, Emma Ingram, Ceeter Carmean, Christopher Carmean, Phillip Ingram, Jr., Melanie Ingram, and Martin Ingram, Jr. She is also survived by 11 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her son Martin Ingram in 2009.

The family would like to thank the Milton Ambulance crew for their years of service and care given to her in her later years. Also, thank you to Dr. Maria Haldar and Delaware Hospice for their care, love, and kindness.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, April 1, 2024, at Short Funeral Services, 416 Federal St., Milton, DE 19968, where a time of visitation for family and friends will begin at 12:00 p.m. Burial will be at Slaughter Neck Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Naomi’s name to the Milton Fire Company Ambulance Service, 116 Front Street, Milton, DE 19968.
