Douglas Anthony Madden

Reverend Douglas Anthony Madden, 70, passed away on Tuesday, June 25th, 2024 at his home in Milford, DE surrounded by his loved ones.
Douglas and his wife Patricia owned a sheep farm, “Just for Ewe”, in Southern Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Doug enjoyed landscaping, and owned a small landscaping business in his early adult life. In addition to gardening, Doug enjoyed the beach, and spent every summer with his family in Camp May, NJ. Doug, a self-taught musician, and self-named “fifth Beatle”, was often part of the church band, and played the guitar for many years.
Born in New York City to parents Edward M. Madden and Olga Lillian (Ensink) Madden.
Douglas attended and graduated from St. Josephs’s University and later attended and graduated from Princeton Theological Seminary. Ordained in 1990, Douglas became a Presbyterian Minister. He served the church and numerous congregations for 26 years (including Honeybrook Presbyterian Church (Honeybrook,PA), Union Presbyterian Church (Oxford, PA), First Presbyterian Church (Bath, NY), and Cold Spring Presbyterian Church (Cold Spring, NJ). He was and will always be lovingly remembered as “Pastor Doug.”
Douglas is preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Judith C. (Coyle) Madden (with whom he raised two daughters and a son; Jeremy T. Madden of Ticonderoga, NY, Maureen L (Madden) Garver, of Adamsville, PA, and Mary C. Coyle, of Harrisburg, PA.
He leaves behind his wife of 27 years, Patricia (Creamer) Madden, his three children, 4 grandchildren, and four siblings, Bruce Edward Madden, Barbara Anne Martz, Edward Peter Madden, and Carolyn Lillian Napper.
Services and arrangements have been entrusted to Berry-Short Funeral Home, 119 N.W Front Street, Milford, De 19963.
