Pastor John A. Mcconaughy

Pastor John A. McConaughy completed his earthly journey on September 29, 2024, at the age of 82 in Milford, DE. He was welcomed into this world on December 14, 1941, in Staten Island, NY, to his parents Dwight and Anita (Irving) McConaughy, who predeceased him, along with his sisters Dorothy Conrad and Lois Touchton.

Pastor John is remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. His legacy was one of kindness, service, and an unwavering commitment to the enrichment of others' lives through the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.

During his life, John served as a compassionate shepherd to his flock, retiring as a pastor of Berean Community Church of Milford, DE. His role extended beyond the pulpit as he provided guidance through ACBC and CCEF Christian Counseling, supporting individuals in their times of need. John's interests were a reflection of his resourceful nature; he took joy in working with his hands and lifting spirits with his singing.

John's life was marked by an unwavering devotion to his family and his calling. He is survived by his cherished wife, Dolores; their beloved children, Amy Herwig (Bruce) and Jeremy McConaughy (Aylea); his caring sister, Carol Hurlbert; and his adoring grandchildren, Audrey Tinker (Nathanael), John and Evan Herwig, Savannah and Hannah Sistrunk. John also leaves behind his treasured great-grandchildren, Gwen and Isla Tinker, in addition to numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members who were blessed to know his warm spirit.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at 11:00am, at Berean Community Church, 2709 Milford Harrington Hwy, Milford, DE 19963. A time of visitation will be held prior from 10:00am-11:00am.
