Georgetown—Peggy J. Bryan went to be with the Lord in Heaven on May 20, 2023.
She was born on June 19, 1939, to the late Novy and Bessie (Yates) Bogard in What Cheer, Iowa and raised in western Kentucky, where she met her first husband William Bryan.
She started her career as a real estate agent before taking a break to raise her 4 sons. When she went back to work, she became an office manager for various businesses before retiring in 1992 to spend her golden years in Georgetown, Delaware. She was very talented and enjoyed doing various arts and crafts including quilting, painting, wood carving, ceramics, stained glass, and card making. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Georgetown, DE.
Peggy is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Maydell Riley; step-dad, Cleveland Downing; first husband William Bryan; and husband, James Rich. She is survived by four sons; Barry (Liz) Bryan, Darryl (Bernice) Bryan, Kerry (Angela) Bryan, and Jerry (Susan) Bryan; seven grandchildren, Derek, Justine, Raymond, Samuel, Christopher, Connor, and Devin; 2 great grandchildren; and sister Elaine Downing.
A visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Friday, May 26, 2023, at Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market Street, Georgetown, DE 19947 and the funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro, DE. In lieu of flowers, donations can be can sent to the American Lung Association, 55 W. Wacker Drive, Suite 1150, Chicago, IL 60601, or www.lung.org.
