Peter Anthony Saienni, Jr.

Peter Anthony Saienni, Jr., 79, passed away peacefully at Christiana Hospital on Wednesday, December 22, 2021. Peter was born in Wilmington to the late Peter A. and Philomena (Gotto) Saienni Sr. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for most of his life. Peter was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Sons of Italy. He was an avid Eagles and Phillies fan and enjoyed hunting and fishing in his younger years. He also enjoyed gardening and was very proud of his vegetable and herb garden. He especially loved to spend time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his daughters, Heather Mercado and son-in-law, Alexis, Patricia Saienni, and Victoria Saienni; siblings, Marion Greene, Michael Saienni, and Sylvia Saienni; and his grandchildren, Elijah, Mackenzie, Harley, Anthony, Savannah, Arabella, Alexander, and Vaughn. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at 11 am at St. Michaels the Archangel, 202 Edward St., Georgetown, DE 19947, where friends may call after 10 am. Interment will follow at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro. A funeral reception at the American Legion Post #28, 31768 Legion Road, Millsboro, DE 19966 will be held following the burial from 1:30 to 5:30 pm.
