R. Lee Goins

R. Lee Goins, 66, of Georgetown, passed away at TidalHealth Nanticoke on Thursday, September 1, 2022.

Lee was born in Milford to William P. Goins, Sr. and Ella (Wickham) Dennis. He served in the US Coast Guard and was a member of the NRA and the American Legion Post 28. He has been a mechanic since he was 6 years old and worked as a Merchant Marine Mechanic for Tidewater Marine in Louisiana. Over the years he has also been a truck driver, for both J.V. Wells and Graves Logging, as well as for himself. Most recently he was an Asphalt Plant Operator for Kary Asphalt.

Lee loved BEER, family, friends, race cars, and cooking. He was always willing to help people, even strangers. He and his wife, Joanne met in 1985 at the Blue Gold Restaurant in Georgetown and married in 1988.

He was preceded in death by his father, William Goins, Sr.; his dog, Duke; and his cat, Bill Kitty.

Lee is survived by his wife, Joanne (Justice) Goins; his mother, Ella Dennis; sons, Kenny Willey, Sr. (companion, Morgan) of Bayse, VA, JR Goins (Crissie) of Seaford, Jacob Goins (Hanna) of Georgetown; brothers, William ‘Bill’ Goins, Jr. And James ‘Jim’ Goins, both of Georgetown; sister, Loretta Fisher of Lewes; 6 grandchildren; many extended family that he cherished; and friends that he loved.

A time of visitation will be held on Thursday, September 8, 2022 from 11 am to 2 pm in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market St., Georgetown, DE 19947 as well as another time of visitation on Friday, September 9, 2022 from 4 to 7 pm. Casual dress is requested. Burial will be private.
