Renee B. Sapienza

MILLSBORO – Renee B. Sapienza, age 65, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 24, 2023 under the care of Accent Hospice at Christiana Hospital.

Renee was born in Brooklyn, NY, daughter of Eileen (Cunningham) Gonyon and the late Richard Gonyon.

Renee had been the owner for 20 years of the Villa Rosa and Villa Paradiso restaurants. Renee enjoyed baking, had a heart for animals, and dearly loved her family. She was an artist who was free spirited, kind, and funny.

In addition to her father, Renee is preceded in death by her son, Frank “Frankie” Sapienza, Jr., and a sister, Patricia Grunewald.

She is survived by her mother, Eileen Gonyon; three children, Malissa Emerick and husband Shawn, Jessica Walker and husband Sam, and Joseph Sapienza and wife Jenny; eight grandchildren, Shaila Bittler, Sammy Walker, Braiden Emerick, Brea Emerick, Sophia Walker, Bella Sapienza, Lucy Sapienza and Julie Thomas; two great-grandchildren, JJ and Colton Bittler; and five sibling, Fran Haviland, Terry Hutchinson, Richie Gonyon, Gregory Gonyon and Cathy Strasswimmer; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
