Robert Alan Bekeshka

Robert Alan Bekeshka, a steadfast beacon of faith, kindness, and courage, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2024, in Lewes, DE, at the age of 76. Born to Anthony W. Sr. and Helen (Lozinak) Bekeshka on February 27, 1948, in Philadelphia, PA, Robert's life was a testament to service, love, and determination.

A proud US Army Vietnam Veteran, Robert was a recipient of two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star, reflecting his outstanding bravery and selflessness. Following his distinguished military career, he continued to serve his community as a dedicated supervisor and mail carrier with the US Postal Service, ensuring each day that his neighbors received their mail, come rain or shine.

Robert's devotion to his family was evident in every facet of his life. He shared 46 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Jean, and together they raised three children: Judy, Joseph, and Nicholas, who brought immense joy into his life. He took immense pride in his grandchildren, who will miss their grandfather's guidance and gentle humor. Robert was sure to be present for all his grandchildren's extracurriculars, i.e. Little League games, dance and band performances, graduations, and events of any kind.

Robert was a huge lover of music, specifically the Beatles. His love for music inspired his son Joe to become a musician, and his love for the Phillies was ingrained in all of us, especially his son Nick.

A man of deep faith, Robert was an active member of St. Jude Catholic Church of Lewes. His spirit of community extended to coaching Little League baseball in Lewes, acting with the Second Street Players in Milford, and being an avid Phillies fan.

He is survived by his cherished family: wife Veronica "Jean" Bekeshka; children Judy White, Joseph Bekeshka, and Nicholas Bekeshka and wife Cari Bennett; twin brothers Barry and Gary Bekeshka, sister Theresa Bekeshka; his grandchildren Isabelle, Adeline, Bennett, and Eleanor Bekeshka; nieces Jordan and Jenna Bekeshka; and nephews Matt Eller and Austin Narciso. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, brother Anthony "Buddy" Jr., nephews Sean and Patrick; and his beloved canine companion Benny.

Robert’s legacy will forever be etched in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be remembered for his unwavering faith, his generous heart, and his courageous spirit—a truly remarkable man who made an indelible imprint on this world.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 22, 2024, at 12:00pm at Short Funeral Services, 416 Federal St. Milton DE 19968, with a time of visitation beginning at 11:00am. Interment is private.
