GEORGETOWN – Robert A. “Alan” Unruh passed away peacefully at Milford Center on Thursday, February 4, 2021. Alan was born in Wilmington, son of the late Harold and Muriel (Stinson) Unruh. Alan worked as a salesman with Manhattan Supply Tool Company (formerly Holloway Brothers Tools) for 38 years before retiring several years ago. Alan was drafted into the US Army, serving as an MP, and stationed in France. He was honorably discharged and awarded the Soldier's Medal for bravery during peacetime for saving the life of a fellow sailor. Alan was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church in Georgetown. In his spare time he enjoyed being outdoors, especially fishing, hunting, gardening and taking walks. He loved to travel and he dearly loved his three dogs. In addition to his parents, Alan is preceded in death by a son, James Alan Unruh; son, Daniel J. Unruh (2021); brother, Jack Unruh; and sister, Barbara Unruh Carey. He leaves behind his loving wife of 56 years, Roberta “Bobbie” (Crump) Unruh; a daughter, Deborah Unruh Miller and husband Paul; grandchildren, Elizabeth McCullough “Ella” Miller, Anderson Davis Miller, Chase Braydon Unruh and Paige Marie Unruh; a brother, David Unruh and wife Marion; sister-in-law, Barbara Unruh; brother-in-law, William Carey; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family. A combined celebration of life will be held for Alan and Daniel at 10:00am on Thursday, February 11, 2021 at Calvary Baptist Church, 22860 Dupont Boulevard, Georgetown, Del 19947. Interment will follow at approximately 1:30pm at Silverbrook Cemetery, 3300 Lancaster Pike, Wilmington, Del 19805.
