Born and raised in Milford, Delaware, Robert Allen Jaquette never wandered for long, as Milford was his lifelong home. He passed away on Sunday, September 26, 2021. He completed his education through high school in Milford and college classes at the University of Delaware from 1961 – 1963. He enlisted in the US Navy in 1963. He served active duty until 1967 and in the reserves until 1969. He was on the USS Albany during Vietnam and was part of the fleet that recovered the H-Bomb from the Mediterranean Sea. In his down time, he taught his fellow servicemen math in order for them to achieve their GEDs. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Thomas Jaquette; his mother, Ruth Elaine (Benedict) Jaquette; and nephews Chris Snell and Kyle Moore. He leaves behind his loving sisters: Jean Luce and her children, Bob and Carol and their families; Fran Jaquette and her children, Adam, Karen, Rebecca, and TJ and their families; Judy Berwick and her children, Trevor and Rona; as well as many cousins and some lifelong friends and neighbors. His great passion in life was the automobile, starting with a 1956 Buick in high school. He continued that passion with Bruce Webb in 1967 racing at Little Lincoln Speedway (and the surrounding roadways). This pursuit concluded with Billings & Jaquette Racing Team. He then enjoyed his retirement at his home on Griffith Lake spending time with his family, close friends, and neighbors. He looked forward to his monthly luncheons with his high school classmates. Soon, monthly Parkinson’s meetings became a part of his life as well. He struggled with the effects of Parkinson’s for many years. He helped many through his life while living his, the way he saw fit. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Helen Thomas for her years of dedicated and compassionate care as well as Delaware Hospice in Milford, Sussex Campus Bayhealth ER Dept. and Fifth Floor Staff for the compassion and dignity afforded to Robert and his family during his time of need. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963 would be appreciated.
