Robert L. Headley, 80

SEAFORD – Robert L. Headley passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford.

Robert was born in Georgetown, Delaware son of the late Lee Headley and Margaret (Foskey) Headley and was the owner and operator for many years of Headley’s Heating.

Robert was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church. He enjoyed being outdoors washing cars and mowing grass. Robert collected NASCAR memorabilia, especially that of his favorite driver, Dale Earnhardt, Sr. He and his wife loved to square dance and were members of the Whirl-A-Ways dance group for many years. Most of all, Robert loved spending time with his family, especially his grandsons.

In addition to his parents, Robert is preceded in death by a sister, Marie Headley Joseph, two nephews, George Allen Joseph and James Sockriter, and brother-in-law, Cordia Warrington (husband of Jean).

He is survived by his loving wife, Charlotte West Headley; a son, Dennis Lee Headley and wife Janet of Abingdon, MD; a daughter, Susan Headley Passwaters and companion Shawn Joseph of Seaford; two grandsons, Paul Headley and wife Alicia, and Ryan “Hot Wheels” Passwaters; a sister, Jean Headley Warrington of Georgetown; and brother-in-law, John T. West and wife Barbara also of Seaford; two nieces, Charlene Lynam and husband Dan, and Billie Jean Sockriter; and two nephews, John “Little John” West and Kevin Sockriter.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00pm on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market Street, Georgetown, Del 19947, where a time of visitation for family and friends will begin at 11:00am. Burial will immediately follow at Asbury Cemetery.
