Robert P. Shulties, Sr.

Robert P. “Bob” Shulties, Sr. of Dover passed away on Monday, January 17, 2022 at Bayhealth, Kent Campus. Bob grew up on the family farm in the area known as Shulties Crossroads, west of Felton. He married Edna Morris in 1955 and together they raised their four children until her untimely death in 1978. Bob was a contractor establishing several businesses including Bob’s Sand and Gravel, Shore Line Bulkheading, RPS Paving, and Tri-County Contractors known as The Shed Place in Felton. He was a member of the American Legion Post #2, a lifetime member and officer of Moose Lodge # 203. Bob raced stock cars on dirt tracks in downstate Delaware frequently winning in Car #88, “ The Streaker”. Bob and Carole were snowbirds each year. After the traditional family Christmas Brunch they traveled in their motorhome to reunite with their “Florida Family” of friends from across the country. Bob loved his family and many friends, loved life and lived it out loud. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ethel Grace (Mub) Melvin Shulties and Paul Philip Shulties; brothers, James Ernest Shulties, Marion Lee Shulties and sister, Grace Grogan Rash. He is survived by his longtime significant other: Carole Jones of Dover, son, Robert P. Shulties, Jr. of Felton; daughters, Lynda Whitley (Dale) of Camden, Patricia Griffith (M.G.) of Camden and Debbie May (Scott) of Broadway, VA; nephew, Michael Grogan of Magnolia; grandchildren, Gary Hurd, A.J. Shulties, Robbie, Melody and Chris Whitley and Jonathon Shulties; great granddaughters, Marie, Brielle, and Isabella Shulties; step-daughters, Christy Jones Tosatto (Rob) of Bushnell, FL, Elizabeth Jones Kilmartin (Jay) of Columbia, SC, Gillian (Carlyle), Sebastian (Nicole), Ermias, Rosa (her daughter, Catalaya) Tosatto and Ian and Rhys Kilmartin. Funeral services will be held Monday, January 24, 2022 at 1:00 pm in the chapel of Berry-Short Funeral Home, Main St., Felton where friends may call Sunday night, January 23, 2022 from 6 to 8 pm. Interment will be held at Barratt’s Chapel Cemetery, Frederica. As required by revised mandates during the pandemic, masks will be required for the health and safety of the family and those in attendance.
