Robert P. Sonzogni

GEORGETOWN – Robert P. Sonzogni, 76, passed away on Sunday, September 19, 2021 at Beebe Healthcare in Lewes. He was born in Jersey City, NJ to the late William and Florence Shepherd Sonzogni on December 20, 1944. In addition to his parents, Bob is also predeceased by his loving mother-in-law, Lillian E Armold. He proudly served his country with the U.S. Army. Robert was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church and served as a Eucharistic Minister. He was Past President of the Board for Georgetown Public Library, former member of Georgetown V.F.W., former President of the Cinderberry Homeowners Association and Architecture Committee, and a volunteer at Freeman Stage. After serving with the military, Robert began a career in banking with Washington Savings Bank, moving on to Trust Company of New Jersey, City Federal, Security National, Mortgage Lenders Network and Lehman Brothers. He enjoyed traveling, cooking, cars and volunteering for things. Even in his passing he continued to think of others, being a donor with the Gift of Life. Robert is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Tina Armold Sonzogni; his son, Robert L. Sonzogni (Milcah); brother, William G. Sonzogni (Carol); three grandchildren; nephew, Bill Sonzogni (Liz) and their children, cousins, Gloria Stella (Frank) and Ruth Nagel. Bob is also survived by his loving father-in-law, Clyde M Armold. A funeral with military honors will take place on Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at 2 pm at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro, DE. Memorial donations may be sent in Robert’s name to the Georgetown Public Library, 123 W. Pine St., Georgetown, DE 19947.
