Rosella O'Day

September 6, 1930 — November 11, 2023

Rosella O’Day of Georgetown, Delaware, surrounded by her family, peacefully went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus on November 11th, 2023.

Rosella was born on September 6th, 1930, in West Virginia to John and Lucinda Baker.

Rosella was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Her faith and her family were her life.

Rosella was a homemaker for many years. Taking care of her family was always her priority.

She was a loving kindhearted person who was loved by all who knew her. She was an amazing cook and loved to have dinners and get togethers for family and close friends. She always had a way of making everyone feel at home.

Rosie loved her Lord and Savior and loved to attend Church. She was a member of first Baptist Church in Georgetown for many years, in later years, attended Cokesbury Church of Georgetown, and in recent years, Crossroad Community Church of Georgetown. Rosie’s faith and prayers influenced her family to accept the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ into their own lives. Her favorite scripture was Proverbs Chapter 3, vs 5 and 6.

Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him and he shall direct thy paths

In addition to her parents, Rosella was preceded in death by her husband, John O’Day, Sr.;

Sisters, Beulah Singleton, Corina Walters, Billie Jean Sockriter, Faye Koyanagi; and brothers Fred Baker, Joseph Baker, and Charles Baker.

Rosella is survived by her children, Janice Nickerson, husband Sam; John O’Day Jr., wife Sharon; Frank O’Day, wife Irene; Jeff O’Day, wife Susie; Arthur O’Day, wife Portia; Billy O’Day, wife Bonnie; and Dwight O’Day, wife Anna; 12 Grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren, sister Mary Price and her husband Pastor David Price, and many nieces and nephews.

A special “thank you” to all of the staff at Lofland Park in Seaford Delaware for your love and care shown for our mother in her final years. A very special thank you to Lauren O’Day for your companionship and love and care given to our mom.

Rosie will be terribly missed by all who knew her, but we will find peace in knowing we will be reunited with her in heaven someday.

A Celebration of Life will be on Thursday, November 16, 2023, at 12:00pm at Crossroads Community Church, 20684 State Forest Rd, Georgetown, DE 19947. Interment was held privately.
