Ruth Ann (Emory) Walls

MILFORD – Ruth Ann (Emory) Walls passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, December 9, 2020. Ruth was born in Greenwood, Delaware daughter of the late Frank G. and Sadie (Dickerson) Emory. Ruth was raised in Greenwood and graduated Valedictorian from Greenwood High School Class of 1946. Besides being a devoted mother and grandmother, Ruth worked at various jobs throughout her life. She was the bookkeeper for the A&P grocery store in the 60’s in Berlin, Maryland, worked for Brown T. Thawley in Milford, Delaware in the early 70’s, and was an in-person census taker for the 1980 census in lower Delaware. While working she continued at various times helping as a Cub Scout den mother, choir member at church, and occasional substitute for everything relating to her sons. In addition to her parents, Ruth is preceded in death by her loving husband, Louis Walls (2013); and siblings, Ethel Smith, Virgil Emory and Millard Reynolds. She is survived by her three son, Jay Walls and wife Shirley, Rick Walls, Bill Walls and wife Lorna; seven grandchildren, Heather Andrews, Ryan Walls, Chance Walls, Kristi Walls, Rick Walls, Jr., Daniel Walls and Lauren Webb; 11 great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. A funeral service will be held at 12:00pm on Wednesday, December 16, 2020 in the chapel of Berry-Short Funeral Homes, 119 NW Front Street, Milford, Del 19963. A time of visitation for family and friends will begin at 10:00am. Burial will follow in St. Johnstown Cemetery, Greenwood.
