Sandra "Sandy" Betts

Milton—Sandra ‘Sandy’ Kay Betts, passed away on Thursday, January 26, 2023, at Bayhealth Hospital, Sussex Campus, Milford, DE. She was born on October 17, 1950 to her parents Norman Levi and Hannah (Mitchell) Messick in Milford, DE.

Sandy enjoyed going to the slots, spending time with family and friends and going to ballgames. She worked at Thoro Kleen.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Gardner Messick, Ray Messick, Harold Messick, Ralph Messick, Jimmy Messick Norman Messick, “Jr.”; and sisters, Marie Bertrand, Eliza “Belle” Elliott, and Virginia Lee Hickman.

Sandy survived by her husband of 49 years, Barry Betts, Sr.; Sons Barry Betts, Jr. (Kathie), Curtis Betts (Heather); grandchildren, Allen Betts (Devan), Gage Betts (Taylor), Cale Betts, Hannah Wyatt (Kolby), Mackenzie Betts; great grandchildren, Charlotte Betts, Reid Betts, Paisleigh Wyatt, Braylee Betts, Travis Wyatt; siblings, Ernest Messick, Nancy Hammond (Dale), Doris Donaway (Irving) and a host of nieces and nephews.

A time of Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 31, 2023, at Short Funeral Services, 416 Federal Street, Milton, DE from 5:00pm to 7:00pm. A Celebration of Life will be held immediately following the time of visitation at the Milton Fire Department, 116 Front Street, Milton, DE.
