After life filled with fun, laughter, music, and adventure, Sherrillyn “Dawn” Royston’s 10 year battle against cancer came to an end on June 6, 2024.
She will be remembered as a bright and beautiful free spirit. She would never hesitate to do silly dances her granddaughters taught her or to share a few of her own moves. She would share stories of her early adult years and her childhood as an army “brat” sharing about her travels and that she had been Little Miss Germany during her family’s time there.
She is preceded in death by her father Norton Truesdale, her mother Ruth Clamp Truesdale, her son Joshua James Royston, her sister Jacqueline Truesdale Wright, and her brother Murray “Stevie” Truesdale. She is survived by her 2 daughters, Kimberley Vrem and Jamie Royston, son Fuller Royston, brother Vernon Truesdale, grandsons Steven J. Carey and and James Boynton, granddaughters Olivia Carroll, Madeleine Carroll, and Emily Carroll, and a great-grandson, Steven N. Carey.
At her request, there will be no formal service. A private memorial service will be held to honor her final wishes. The family would like to thank Delaware Hospice for their dedication to keeping her at home as long as possible, the phenomenal care provided in a facility the last two weeks of her life. Special thanks go to Delaware Hospice Social Worker Mary R. for her unwavering support during this very difficult time.
Arrangements are in the care of Berry-Short Funeral Home, Milford, DE. Online condolences may be sent at https://www.shortfuneralservicesandcremation.com/.
