MILFORD – Shirley Ann Henderlong, 84, of Milford, passed away Sunday, May 2, 2021 at Lifecare at Lofland Park in Seaford where she resided for the last 7 months. Shirley was born in Rising Sun, Delaware, daughter of the late George W. and Anna Mae (Dear) Graham. She worked many years for the Coopersmith Store and Milford Stitching. After retiring, she provided private in-home compassionate care for several local residents. Shirley was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church for many years. She enjoyed being outdoors, sitting on her front porch, listening to the sounds of the birds, and taking daily walks. She enjoyed the beach, loved dancing, country music and being with her family and friends, especially looking at old family photos. Shirley was an animal lover and treasured her many furry companions over the years. In addition to her parents, Shirley is preceded in death by her husband; Ralph F. Henderlong; her daughter, Linda Rhodes; a brother, George Graham; four sisters, Mary, Helen, Alice and Jenny; and one step grandson. Shirley is survived by her daughter, Sharon Weldon of Milford; her brother, Ken Graham of Seaford; three step-children, Carol Jeanotilla, Brad Henderlong and Janet Short; several nieces, nephews, and extended family; a host of friends and loving neighbors who faithfully checked in on her for many years; as well as, four step-grandchildren; seven step-great grandchildren; and one step-great-great grandson. A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, May 6, 2021 in the chapel of Berry-Short Funeral Homes, 119 NW Front St., Milford where friends may call from 10:00am to 11:00am. Burial will immediately follow at Milford Community Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Calvary United Methodist Church, 301 SE Front Street, Milford, Delaware 19963. All attending must wear a mask and adhere to social distancing and gathering protocols.
