GEORGETOWN – Steven J. Houston passed away unexpectedly on Friday, May 15, 2020 at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital in Seaford. Steve was a consultant with NMP Engineering Consultants, Inc. Prior to joining NMP Engineering Consultants, Inc., Steve was a self-employed construction contractor. He owned and operated Cedar Ridge Builders for many years as a highly skilled craftsman. A Sussex County local, Steve graduated from Sussex Central High School in Georgetown, Delaware and went on to earn his Associate’s Degree in Engineering & Design from Delaware Technical & Community College. When he wasn’t at work, you could most often find Steve either tending to his vegetable garden, working on his truck or family member’s car, or grilling up something tasty in the kitchen. His fried summer squash, homemade hot sauce and Christmas Chex Mix will be especially missed. He is preceded in death by his father, Robert Houston; and step-father, Elwood R. Wilson. Steve is survived by his three children, Christine Houston, Noelle Houston and Grant Houston; his mother, Bessie (Pepper) Wilson; six brothers, Robert Houston, David Houston, John Houston, Philip Houston, Mark Houston and Daniel Houston; and one sister, Ruth E. Houston-Behrens; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. Due to the current restrictions set forth during this pandemic a memorial service will be scheduled at a later date for friends and family.
