Thomas Scott "Tom" Pierce, Jr.

Thomas Scott Pierce, Jr. ("Tom"), 79, of Lewes passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 12, 2023. He was born on November 23, 1943, son of the late Thomas Scott Pierce, Sr. and the late Martha Evelyn (Craft) Pierce.

Tom grew up in Lewes and graduated from Lewes High School in 1962. He served in the US Coast Guard for four years then in the Coast Guard Reserve for two years. Tom worked for most of his life in the wholesale plumbing business.

Tom was very athletic. He played football, basketball and baseball. He was very active as a coach with the Lewes Little League for many years and was well-known for his kindness to his players.

In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his sister, Marta Webster; his nephew, Scott Pierce Webster; and his long-time companion, Joann Foster.

Tom is survived by two daughters, Terri Pierce and her husband Eric Gooch of Milton and Lisa Pierce-Cerchio and her husband Michael Cerchio of Rehoboth Beach; three grandchildren, Lexi Pierce Gooch, Michael Fisher Cerchio, and Elizabeth Rose Cerchio; two nephews, Donnie Webster of Rehoboth Beach and his family and Forrest Webster of Milton and his family.

A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Tom's name to the American Heart Association.
