Vicki Jean Porter

April 2, 1966 — January 25, 2025

Vicki Jean Porter, 58, passed away on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at Kent General Hospital.

Mom graduated in 1884 from Lake Forest High School. She was a certified CNA and previously worked at a nursing home in Dover. She loved to write poems, camping, fishing, and hunting. She loved being at the seashore as the smell of the ocean and soft breeze always made her feel better. She was also an avid horseshoe player in some of the Delaware State Fair Tournaments. She had a special place in her heart to help the homeless and the elderly.

She was predeceased by her father Norman “Jack” Porter on Veteran’s Day 11/11/2024; and her aunt Jane E. Wilkins.

She is survived by her mother Helen D. Porter; her daughter Karla Gillespie (Vern); her daughter Ashlee Gillespie (Avery); her grandchildren Caitlynn, Kylee, Cali, Logan, Arielle, and Karlee; her sister Valerie L. Carlisle (Leon); her niece Kristen Mullaney (Tim) and their children Rylan, McKenna, and Jameson; many cousins and friends; and her uncle William Shockley.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at 2:00pm at Berry-Short Funeral Home in Felton, DE.
