William 'Bill' Warne Boyer

June 12, 1935 — June 26, 2021

Devoted Husband/Hard Worker FELTON - William “Bill” Warne Boyer, 86, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 26, 2021, surrounded by family, both present and virtual, at Tidal Health (PRMC) in Salisbury. He was born on June 12, 1935, in Pottstown PA, son of the late Harry and Marie (Coady) Boyer. He began working at a very young age and worked hard all his life. For most of his career, he worked as a heavy equipment operator in the commercial construction industry, perhaps best known for his skills with the backhoe. It was very impressive to watch him operate his backhoe and he took pride in conquering the more challenging jobs. In his earlier years, he drove a Sunbeam bread truck for Huber Baking Co., and prior to that, he drove a delivery truck for the Nehi Beverage Co. Bill enjoyed hunting and fishing, along with his passion for bowling. He was a member of NABI, and bowled in numerous tournaments, including the nationals in Las Vegas, for many years. It was during those years that he and his wife, Sylvia, were able to enjoy traveling to many places in the United States. He also loved working in his garden along with countless hours he spent working in his garage (often before and after his daily visits to Sylvia in the nursing home). Mr. Boyer’s legacy is one of determination, because he never gave up and did his best not to let anything or any health issue slow him down. Affectionately known as ‘the original MacGyver’ he usually developed a systematic way of conquering every task. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by the love of his life on May 8, 2020, Sylvia Sammons Boyer; and a sister, Betty Shockley. Mr. Boyer leaves behind his children, William B. Boyer and wife Alysia of York, PA, Robert Boyer and wife Ruthann of Laurel, Shirley Grubb and Christine Hopson of Melbourne, FL, Patricia Faucett of Long Neck, Ursula Palmer O’Brien and husband Richard of Simi Valley, CA, John Boyer and wife Monica of Alaska, and stepson Shawn White of Sumter, SC. He also leaves behind his brother, Keith Boyer of Hobe Sound, FL; and sisters, Arlene Donophan of Dover, Loretta Lavere of Harrington, Frances Benson and husband Rick of Bridgeville, and Maureen Peters of Boothwyn, PA; as well as several nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren, semi-adopted children and friends. A joint Celebration of Life service for Bill and Sylvia will be held on Tuesday, July 6, 2021 in the sanctuary of Atlanta Road Alliance Church, 22625 Atlanta Road, Seaford, DE. A time of visitation for family and friends will begin at 12 noon, followed by services at 1 pm. Interment will immediately follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Seaford. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages memorial contributions to the Atlanta Road Alliance Church, P.O. Box 756, Seaford, DE 19973 for Bill and/or Sylvia, or a charity of your choice.
