Obituary for William Clayton Hitch
William Clayton Hitch, 94, passed away on Sunday, December 8, 2024, surrounded by his loving family at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford, DE.
He was born on May 15, 1930, in Westchester, PA to his parents William and Lillian (Clampitt) Hitch.
William served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1951 to 1955. He was a machinist with Chester Machine Works until his retirement. He had a boat called the Rock-N-Roll that he enjoyed taking people out on the bay to enjoy the water as he did. He ran a business to rent boats for people to go fishing from 1974 to 1986. William enjoyed watching sports, gardening and most of all enjoyed spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 61 years, Rita R. (Skipper) Hitch and son-in-law, Mike Davis.
William is survived by his children, Steve Hitch (Tracy), Gary Hitch (Violet), Lori Davis, and Rita Gail Hitch; grandchildren, Caitlin, Gary, Eric, Kevin, Micaela and Michael; great grandchildren, Josh and Ellie.
Services for William will be held at a later date.
