William G. Hopkins, Sr.

Milton-William G. Hopkins, Sr. (Bill Hopkins), 89, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on June 29, 2022 at Delaware Hospice. Bill was born in Milton, son of the late George E. Hopkins, Sr. and Ruth (Porter) Hopkins. He grew up working on the family farm along side his father, then he enlisted in the U.S. Army as Pvt 2 serving during in the Korean War. Once he returned home, he married the love of his life, Thelma (Moore) Hopkins. Bill then started working for Joe Hudson at Hudson Management, where he retired after 54 years. He enjoyed working in his garden and cutting grass when he wasn’t spending time with his grandkids and great grandkids. He was a lifetime member of the Coolspring Presbyterian Church. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Thelma, his three siblings, George E. Hopkins, Jr., Ruth Ann Wilson, Nancy Dickerson and a grandson, Cody Hopkins. He survived by his son, William Hopkins, Jr. (Lori), his daughter, Connie Heck (Mike); four grandchildren Corey White (Matt), Caitlin Hopkins (Mike), Payton and Hunter Heck; three great grandchildren Beau, Jack and Allie. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 12, 2022 in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 416 Federal Street, Milton, DE, where a time of visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, July 11, 2022, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday, July 12, 2022 from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow the service at the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Milton, DE.
