William J. Teletchea, born December 13, 1938, in Cambridge, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on April 26, 2025, at the Delaware Bay Rehabilitation Center. A proud veteran, William served honorably in the United States Marine Corps, exemplifying a lifelong commitment to patriotism and service.
In his youth, William was a gifted athlete. His passion for baseball led to him being drafted by the Braves organization to play in their minor league system — a testament to his remarkable skill and dedication. He remained an enthusiastic sports fan throughout his life, especially cheering on his beloved Washington Capitals.
Above all else, William was a devoted family man. He is survived by his sister, Janet; daughters Joan (Glen) Mitchell, Donna (Ed) Banasiak, and Lori (Mary) Teletchea; his son, John (Nicki) Teletchea; stepchildren Bob and Beth; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. William cherished time with his family and took immense pride in their accomplishments.
Following in the footsteps of his father and grandfather, William built a long and proud career as a Union Printer at the Government Printing Office, serving there for over thirty years. He was also an active member of the American Legion, continuing his commitment to the community and fellow veterans well beyond his military service.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Martha Beighley; his parents, Owen Sulpice and Margaret Hughes; his siblings, Owen, Joseph, Jean, and John; his stepson, William; and his grandson, Eddie Banasiak.
William found companionship and joy with his loving partner, Loretta Weber, in his final years.
A graveside service to honor William’s life will be held on May 23, 2025, at 2:00 PM at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro, Delaware. There will be an opportunity for fellowship with family and friends following the service.
