William Wallace Reirden

William Wallace Reirden, 83, of Harrington, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 2, 2022 surrounded by his family at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford. William was born on November 3, 1938 in Fitchburg, Massachusetts to the late Stanley and Sylvia (Fillback) Reirden. William moved to Harrington in 1974. He was a proud veteran of the US Air Force after 22 years of dedicated service joining when he was just 17 years old. After the Air Force, he worked civil service jobs until his final retirement in 2002. He joined the American Legion CKRT Post 7 in Harrington. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, gardening, and cooking. He was a DCI Drum Corp fan and a major sports fan, rooting for the Boston Redsox, New England Patriots, and NASCAR racer Kevin Harvick. In addition to his parents, William is preceded in death by his daughter, June Bell; his sister, Gail Lockwood; and his brother, David Reirden. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 57 years, Betty (Marvel) Reirden; his six children, Jimmy Teagle (Ronicca), John Teagle (Marlene), Jane Paskey (Bill), David Reirden (Carrie), William Reirden (Kathy), and Mary Grant (Bob); his eleven grandchildren, J.R., Stephen, Robert, Nicholas, William, Shelby, Taylor, David, Shannon, Patrick, and Jordyn; and his six great grandchildren, Chase, Braden, Trey, Theo, Delaney, and Ty. Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 8, 2022 at noon at Berry-Short Funeral Home, Main Street, Felton, DE. A time of visitation will begin at 11AM. Interment and military honors will follow at Hollywood Cemetery, Harrington, DE.
