William "Wild Bill" Webb

William H. “Wild Bill” Webb, Jr., 79, passed unexpectedly on his own terms at his home on Saturday, April 22, 2023. His playful sense of humor and welcoming open door will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He was born in Milford, DE, on August 9, 1943. The first of three sons, his parents were William H. Webb, Sr. and formerly Catherine M. Murphy.

Living up to his name, Wild Bill was known for his spontaneous fun, legendary stories, and taking a ride along the beach with anything that had a motor. He will be remembered for his love of South Bowers Beach and its preservation for all to enjoy, his dogs over the years, his stubborn and prideful character as a founding Webb, and a 64 years of active fire service with South Bowers Volunteer Fire Company as the longest standing member.

Bill was married in 1978 to Patricia B. Clymer, who preceded him.

He is survived by his two children; three step children; nine grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two brothers; five nieces and nephews and three great nieces.

A celebration of life in his honor will be held at the South Bowers Volunteer Fire Co., 57 Scotts Corner Rd. Milford, DE 19963, on Friday, April 28, 2023 at 4:00 pm. The celebration is open to the public. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made in Bill’s honor to the South Bowers Volunteer Fire Co.
